Heaven & Earth Trails

Nestled on Karweyderskraal Farm in the picturesque Hemel-en-Aarde Valley near Hermanus, Heaven & Earth Trails offers beautifully curated horse trail rides that cater to all experience levels—whether you're a first-time rider or a seasoned equestrian, you're in for a treat.

Founded in 2012 by Danie van Zyl and Karl Gotze, the operation is known in the Western Cape for its professionalism, safety standards, and horse welfare practices. Horses roam as a herd in large paddocks and are trimmed barefoot, trained to be calm and responsive—even for novices.

Safety is central: riders undergo a 15–30 minute induction and training session in the lunge ring before rides depart. Trails operate at a pace comfortable for the least experienced rider, with all guides holding valid first-aid certificates, and gear and tack regularly inspected. Rides are weather-monitored and canceled if conditions turn unsafe.

Trail times typically include 09h00, 12h00, or 15h00 bookings, with durations around 2 hours, and customizable options are available for private or wine-estate-based rides. Pricing is around R400 per person for the standard farm trail .

Additional conveniences: flexible booking and cancellation policies, including full refunds for cancellations more than 3 days ahead, 50% refunds for 1–2 days notice, and no refunds for less than 24 hours’ notice
