South African Astronomical Observatory

The South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO), located at 1 Observatory Road, Observatory, Cape Town, is the national center for optical and infrared astronomy. Established in 1820, it is South Africa’s oldest permanent scientific institution and remains at the forefront of astronomical research, education, and outreach.
