The Goose Wines is a boutique wine brand based in the Upper-Langkloof valley near George in the Western Cape. The vineyard is situated on the northern slopes of the Outeniqua Mountains, one of the coolest wine-growing regions in South Africa, which helps produce grapes with distinctive flavour and complexity.
The winery was founded by world-renowned South African professional golfer Retief “The Goose” Goosen together with business partner Dr. Werner Roux. Their shared passion for wine led to the creation of The Goose label, which has grown into an internationally recognised brand enjoyed by wine lovers around the world.
The estate’s vineyards are planted with carefully selected grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Sauvignon Blanc, chosen to thrive in the region’s cool climate and mountain soils. These conditions allow the grapes to ripen slowly, producing wines known for their depth, balance, and distinctive character.
Each wine is handcrafted using traditional winemaking methods, with careful harvesting and fermentation techniques used to develop the rich aromas, colour, and flavour profiles found in the Goose wine range.
