The Rupert Museum, situated on Stellentia Road in Stellenbosch, houses one of South Africa’s most distinguished modern-art collections, assembled by Dr. Anton Rupert and his wife, Huberte.
Its exhibits span paintings, tapestries, sculptures, and works by local masters like Maggie Laubser, Irma Stern, JH Pierneef and Walter Battiss — alongside notable European pieces, French tapestries and international artists.
The museum was commissioned in 2003, completed in 2005 under architect Hannes Meiring’s design, blending with local “Boland farm” architectural style, set amongst vineyards and oak trees along the Eerste River. Amenities include a café, MakerStudio (art-workshop space), event lawn, an active library, landscaped gardens, free WiFi and guided tour options.
