97 Balfour Street, Woodstock, Cape Town, 7925, South Africa
Nestled at 97 Balfour Street, Woodstock, Cape Town 7925, the Woodstock Peace Garden is a remarkable initiative by Co‑Creators in partnership with the local community and the Alpha School for Autism. The garden transforms an unused urban field into a lush, multifunctional green space that serves as a community food-garden, ecological classroom, playground for children and a haven for reflection.
During its evolution, the garden has grown to include edible landscapes, composting systems, aquaponics setups, a labyrinth for mindful walking, chickens, ducks, fish ponds and a plant nursery.
Families, walkers, school groups and volunteers can access the space in early mornings or late afternoons—residents can get key access to walk pets, garden, exercise or simply spend quiet time outdoors.
Because the project is rooted in “ubuntu” values and awareness-raising (especially around autism and the environment), a visit to the garden is more than just a stroll—it’s an opportunity to connect with community, nature, sustainability and inclusive design.
Whether you’re interested in urban agriculture, mindful outdoor spaces, volunteering or simply want a green retreat in the city, the Woodstock Peace Garden offers a unique and meaningful experience in the heart of Cape Town’s creative Woodstock neighbourhood.
