Hey Joe Brewing Co., nestled at La Brasserie Farm along R45 in Franschhoek, marries Belgian brewing heritage with South African charm. At its heart sits a rare restored 1961 “De Halve Maan” copper brewhouse imported from Belgium—one of only three in the country—lending authenticity to every pour.
The taproom and restaurant invite visitors to sip while soaking in the workings of the brewhouse. Guests can enjoy artisan beer tastings, order brews by the glass, and explore a thoughtfully curated menu inspired by Belgian fare—with sharing dishes, options for vegetarians and vegans, and even an alcohol-free “Hond Bier” for canine companions.
Steeped in story and craftsmanship, the brewery was founded by Belgian beer enthusiasts, led by brewer Anja Van Zyl, alongside consultant Bert Van Hecke and assistant Vernel Gennike. Together, they deliver distinct, award-winning beers—like their “Spéciale Belge,” a light amber delight with apricot, plum, caramel, and honey notes.
